Since you are making a choice of baptizing your child in the Church, by which I don't just mean our specific parish, but the Orthodox Christian Church, it is also imperative to start developing a habit of participating in the life of the Church: attending services, praying and reading the Bible at home, learning and growing and living in the faith. This is the meaning of Baptism in the Church. Begin with small, but steady, steps. For example, attend church once a month, for a year or so. Set aside specific and intentional time for prayer once a week. Learn something about the Church. You're getting yourself into a community, it is important to know what this community is about. And then go from there, making small steps that increase participation in the faith.
