The last Sunday when meat is allowed before the Great Lent we spent in style - by eating meat (and other great foods, and Mária's special bloody mary).
Blessed week to all! On Sunday, February 4, we had the second part of our Teaching Liturgy series, where Father Aleksey discussed practical and spiritual aspects of our liturgical prayers and actions.
At the end of the Liturgy, new blue covers, that were bought by St Anna Altar society for the parish, were blessed. After that, the new parish officers for 2018 received their blessing for the upcoming year that they may be good and faithful stewards for the Lord our God in the dedication of their time and talents to the welfare of His Holy Church. On Sunday, Feb. 19, we celebrated our first annual Teaching Liturgy, which began with Proskomedia (preparation of the Gifts for the Liturgy) in the middle of the church. Since this service is usually done before anyone arrives to church and behind the closed and doors and iconostasis, Fr Aleksey did for all to see, explaining along the way what is being done. During the Liturgy itself, frequent stops were also made, with explanations of the historical and practical aspects of our central service.
After the worship, everyone enjoyed delicious blini (Russian-style pancakes) and had a great fellowship. |
