A blessed Feast of Saint Nicholas!
This year's Yolka (Christmas performance) was organized, directed, and narrated by Emma Pandorf. We want to give our young people a few extra responsibilities, and Emma delivered with a great Yolka! Great job, Emma! At the end of the performance, as the children were singing "O who loves Nicholas the saintly," our parish was visited by a very special guest - Saint Nicholas himself! And he brought a box full of presents. A blessed feast indeed! On Sunday, December 15, we were happy to host the Halsell family from Saint Vladimir's Seminary, whom our parish sponsored for Saint Nicholas Wish List Project organized by FOCA (R Club). Katrina Fett organized and ran the project for our parish.
After the Liturgy, the kids presented a Yolka performance on the life of Saint Nicholas. After that, Saint Nicholas himself visited us with presents! Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever! We had a full day on Sunday, Dec. 16 - Divine Liturgy with the Fields family from St Vladimir's Seminary, whom our parish sponsored for FOCA's Saint Nicholas Project. Father Herman Fields concelebrated at the Liturgy.
At the end of the Liturgy, Father Aleksey talked with kids about the meaning behind the symbolic creatures of the Evangelists - the man, bull, lion, and eagle. After the Liturgy, our children gave a Yolka performance, and Saint Nicholas himself visited us with gifts for the kids. Bigs thanks to Sunday School moms for organizing and preparing for the day. Moms, you rock! Also, thank you to the Fett family who are in charge of St Nicholas Project for our parish. The gifts, hospitality, and love that we show to the seminarian families every year really make this Christmas season that much more joyous. It was a joyous day indeed! At Yolka, our kids reenacted the elevation of St Nicholas to episcopacy. Afterwards they sang "О Кто Николая любит" ("O Who Loves Nicholas the saintly"). As they were singing, St Nicholas himself (!) showed up and showered our kids with the gifts.
