BROTHERS and SISTERS, walk as children of light, for the fruit of the Spirit is found in all that is good and right and true. Discern what is well-pleasing to the Lord. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them for what they are. It is shameful even to mention what such people do secretly. But everything is revealed when it is exposed by the light. Therefore, it is said, “Sleeper, awake! Arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Be careful then how you live, not as fools, but as wise people, making the most of the time, because the days are evil. So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and chanting to the Lord in your hearts.
Saint John Chrysostom explains what it means to have our sins exposed by the light,
As a wound, so long as it is imbedded and concealed outwardly, and runs beneath the surface, receives no attention, so also sin, as long as it is concealed, being as it were in darkness, is daringly committed in full security. But as soon as it is exposed, it become light - not indeed the sin itself (for how could that be?), but the sinner. For when the sinner has been brought out into the light, when the sinner has been admonished, when the sinner has repented, when the sinner has obtained pardon, has not all darkness been cleared away? Has not the sinner had his wounds healed? Has not the sinner's unfruitfulness been called into fruit?
